Warm water is the primary element in Watsu®
therapy. Water is the ideal medium for stretching. Water’s
natural support frees the vertebrae and enables the spine to
move in ways not possible on land.
Gentle, gradual twists and pulls by the therapist
relieve pressure a rigid spine may have placed on nerves,
thereby enabling the body to release stress. The warmth of
the water relaxes the body, encouraging muscle tension to
melt away.
Various massage strokes and Shiatsu-style pressure are
applied to points along meridians to stimulate blood
circulation and oxygen flow. Conscious breathing contributes
to the relief of stress and tension, and also increases
circulation and oxygen flow throughout the body.
